An Internship in Practical Design
I was a graphic design intern at the University of Toledo Foundation for ~1 year. Initially the internship was supposed to be over the summer, but I worked the job so nice they extended it twice! While there, I made media collateral for the Health Science Campus, College of Medicine and Life Sciences, and College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Conference Content
A large portion of my work during my time at UTF were event invitations, including conference event invitations.
I was tasked with making templates in MailChimp that we could then curate towards specific events for the College of Medicine and Life Science (COMLS) and the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (CPPS).
To compliment these invitations, I was also tasked with making a variety of thank-you follow-ups. Some were tailor-made for specific events, whereas others were able to be later used as a generalizable template.
Event Invitations
The first project I was assigned was to make a batch of invitations for special football suites. This was notably before "The Power To Do" brand redesign was put in effect.
That was itself quite the exciting experience - I got to learn about implementing and updating media to fit the brand redesign.
Some of my favorite projects that I worked on involved event invitations for one-off events. Events like the Mobile Health Unity Community Open House and the Toledo Transition Program were fun to make special designs for while building off of previous designs.
Note that the Toledo Transitional Program document image includes some light censorship. The document was an auxiliary project that I was tasked with as a favor.
Lastly we have an invitation for the Cancer Survivor Celebration event that's hosted annually. I made this invitation late in my internship and it reflected the newer style well.
During my time at the University of Toledo Foundation, I was once approached by my supervisor, David Zelenka. He came to ask me if I could take a look at a promotional flyer he was dissatisfied with and asked me to take a swing at redesigning it.
This task came to me shortly after the University of Toledo had made "The Power To Do" brand redesign public, so I redesigned the poster with relevant photography, assets, and fonts to reflect this.
Mr. Zelenka and the team were so happy with what I came up with it ended up being used as the final release for the promotion!
